Celebrating With Friends: The Métier Travel Guide
Go And See
20 April 2021
To Our Friends & Family,
This week marks Métier’s 4 year anniversary! I am so proud of what we have done, especially this past year, and am so grateful for all of your support along the way.
As you know, the spirit of adventure, curiosity and unearthing the world’s best kept secrets lie at the heart of Métier. I am sure I am not alone in being ready to start planning life on the road. Wherever that may be, we wanted to celebrate our 4th birthday by looking back at some of our best travel memories as well as sharing destinations that have long been on our bucket lists.
We have created a Métier Travel Guide with the help of some of our friends and family. We hope you enjoy this virtual escape, and we look forward to checking off some of these off our lists very soon.
With love,
Melissa

What is your favourite place you have ever been to?
Even after the wonder of Petra, the immense tranquility of Jordan’s Wadi Rum desert is at once alien and movingly personal. Camp with Bedouin guides, eat food cooked under the sand, dance with the stars and thank your gods for the privilege.
The elephant pond is a testament to the scale and sanctity of the Sinhalese civilisation in northern Sri Lanka in its capital of Anuradhapura. Built not for elephants, but as a ritual bath for the priest king’s 5000 Buddhist monks, the perpendicular angles of the lake-sized pool surrounded by ruins, contrasted by the abundance of nature all around it creates a spectacular sense of place and serenity. Its in the country’s dry region, but is all the succour you’ll need.

What is your favourite place you have ever been to?
It's so hard to pick a favorite place, but I had the luxury of getting to spend a month in St Barths over lockdown, which made me feel like I was one of the luckiest.
It is an island I grew up going to since I was a little girl, and have always had really great memories from. We woke up early on weekdays to try and work London hours as much as possible, and then around 2pm would check out, and go for a nice late lunch followed by an afternoon at the beach and early dinner. It was amazing to be able to still keep up with all of our day to day work and obligations, while being in such an environment. What WFH should really be all about!
What is the place that's on the top of your bucket list?
As far as my bucket list goes, I would love to go to the Grand Canyon. It looks so picturesque and surreal. I am not usually one for an adventure like that, as for me holidays usually mean being as lazy as I possibly can, but I can only imagine what an experience it must be!

Post Ranch Inn–Big Sur
The most magical place. Set on top of the dramatic cliffs in Big Sur California. Private natural reserve. Sleeping in modernist tree houses. Hot tubs over looking the sea. Access to all the splendid natures and beaches. A place that makes your soul sing.
La Colombe D’or
Always my go to. Whether Sitting on the terrace having a lunch or lounging under the Calder mobile by the pool.
What is the place that's on the top of your bucket list?
INDIA. It’s been a place I've been in love with for decades. Haven’t made it there yet. From Rajasthan to Goa. Calcutta to Darjeeling.
The assault on the senses–culture, colours, food, landscape and the people.
Lisa Armstrong
Fashion Director, Daily Telegraph
What is your favourite place you have ever been to?
So many. I've been lucky enough to go all over the world and have fallen in love with so many places–Brazil, Kenya, Vancouver, Greece and that's before we get to the many beautiful places in Britain. It's so hard to chose one above all the others–in the end it's about the experiences you had there and people you meet. But for sheer beauty, it would have to be Doubtful Sound in New Zealand–the south island. It's completely unspoilt. Thousands of miles of pristine Fjords which I'm glad to say the Kiwis guard fiercely, limiting tourist numbers. It's probably the most majestic, magical place I've ever been.
What is the place that's on the top of your bucket list?
At the moment Sydney. I've been there a few times and love it, but now my daughter's living there, I can't wait to be able to see her, so this is the trip that takes priority for me.

What is your favourite place you have ever been to?
It is so hard to name one favourite place, but last summer we went to Spetses and stayed in the most perfect little house on a remote part of the island, accessible only by boat or quad bike. It had its own beach and a beautiful tiny chapel at the end of the peninsula.
