Inside the Métier New York Residency
Behind The Seams
11 September 2025

Métier is delighted to announce its New York Residency — a retail space debuting September 10th at 142 Wooster Street in Soho.
Métier Creative Director Melissa Morris conceived the space in collaboration with designers Akari Endo-Gaut and Currie Ritchie, blending Art Deco elegance with the relaxed minimalism of 90s New York. The interior’s espresso-stained wood walls and banquette seating — upholstered in Métier’s signature jacquard print — provide a warm backdrop for the collections, which are displayed on brushed-aluminum tables, slim black-lacquer plinths and floating shelves.
A patchwork of tuareg regs anchors the room in the spirit of travel, while a Jean Prouvé door celebrates the beauty of functional design.

Two Justin Bradshaw paintings from Amagansett’s Galerie Sardine hang on the walls of the main seating section. Monolithic, Richard Serra-inspired shapes are juxtaposed with soft, sensual fabric, infusing the space with a sense of drama.

Akari Endo-Gaut worked with local and international galleries to curate vintage furniture and contemporary art for the space.
Pictured here: an Otto Wagner chair, a vintage wooden octagonal side table from Galerie Was, and floral arrangements by Field Studies Flora, set in vessels handcrafted by Guild Gallery ceramicists Heami Lee and Kenta Anzai.

A brushed-aluminum bar framed by curtained draping welcomes to enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine.

Bags and accessories are artfully displayed throughout the space, inviting visitors to touch and hold each piece. Along the back wall, a tall black-lacquer plinth serves as a bag bar —dressed with an edit of Métier styles and a penumbral-shaped Nate Lowman lamp from Galerie Sardine.
Thank you to our collaborators.
