Introducing Air Mail x Métier
Extra! Extra!
21 October 2022
Meticulously conceived and crafted to help with all of your organisational needs, the multi-tasking, Italian leather range includes a slimline, pocketed passport wallet; a versatile envelope joined by blank notecards; a lightweight folio fit for documents and tablets; a notebook cover and a notebook complete with both dotted and lined pages (not to mention a handful of Air Mail surprises); and a playing card case, which houses a deck of cards featuring illustrations by the inimitable Italian artist and Air Mail contributor Andrea Ferolla. Designed to go the distance, each piece is the perfect companion on journeys both short and long.
Collaboration Inspiration
"We wanted to create a selection of products that speak to your inner journalist. From your Notebook to your Folio for your papers, the pieces celebrate the art of writing. The colour story I created is inspired by the Air Mail colour palette, and I particularly love the logo we created together.” - Melissa Morris
“The Air Mail voice is so distinct and beloved—we wanted to infuse that voice into every product. To bring this to life, we enlisted Rome-based artist and Air Mail contributor Andrea Ferolla to create unique illustrations which have been applied to special collection collateral that comes with every piece.” - Melissa Morris
Interview with Graydon Carter, Founder of Air Mail
Métier: What brought you to create this collaboration with Métier?
Graydon Carter: Well, members of the staff have been obsessing over their leather goods since we launched Air Mail. Once I finally saw the Métier line, I completely understood their attraction.
Métier: What are the essentials one would always find on your desk?
Graydon Carter: Cups filled with pencils for a start. I grew up in a house with worn pencils and only the most primitive of sharpeners. Since becoming a journalist almost half a century ago, I live with pencils. They are in virtually every room. I buy vintage new ones on eBay, because they still have graphite in the lead and the tips stay sharper longer. My desk is abnormally tidy. I can work through noise and disruption (I have five children after all), but I have trouble concentrating unless my work surface is just so.
Métier: You are famous for saying you have lists of your lists. What is on your bucket list now?
Graydon Carter: My bucket list is fairly pathetic. Lose five pounds. And floss more.
In Conversation With Andrea Ferolla

We sat down with Andrea Ferolla, the celebrated Italian artist who is one half of the duo behind Chez Dede and a longtime Air Mail contributor. He tells us about his work and the inspiration behind his illustrations for the collaboration.
