What do you do and why is it your passion?
I spend most of my days designing everything from identities, books, websites and typefaces.
Creating beautiful things is an important part of my life.
What is the process for creating your work?
Most of our work starts with questions—being curious from the beginning uncovers many things from concepts ideas and various trains of thought.
How do you get inspired?
I am constantly inspired by my traveling, my wife Olivia, and my 3 year old son, Otto.
How did you get started in your career? What has been your journey to finding your own place and stamp on your industry?
Most of my families background is in art and architecture. I avoided this family tradition for many years and then I went to school for communication design. After doing so, I was heavily inspired by my grandfathers interior work and my fathers architecture.
How often are you traveling? What routine or tricks have you created for being on the road so often?
We travel quite often to Europe and the West coast. When I travel — I try to be present and remind myself to put my phone away as much as possible. My grandfather always used to say: “Remember to look up” which is something I still try to do to this day. It gives you a different perspective wherever you are.
What is your favorite thing about traveling?
It breaks my routine. I tend to reflect and think about new ideas , cultures and time seems to slow down when I travel.
What does luxury mean to you?
Time. Stillness.
What are the things we will always find inside your bag (the non-obvious please!)
My wife’s laptop charger. I can’t help but steal it. A Caran D’arche pen, a note book, and usually some mail I still need to open.
