On Wednesday 9 August, Huma Abedin and Métier founder Melissa Morris hosted a summer dinner party at the Hamptons residence of Susanna Lachs and Dean Adler. “Melissa and I first connected because of the way we were raised by our parents, who raised us to believe that anything was possible so long as we were curious about people and curious about the world.” Huma explains.

“I was so fortunate to meet Huma (Abedin) in the very early days of Métier. I love that we share strong unwavering beliefs and are both completely uncompromising in the pursuit of realizing our visions. The integrity that drives us both, unites us.” - Melissa Morris

A marquee was set up in the English-style garden for the reception. Hay bales were fitted with custom cushions displaying our signature print, with Art Deco-inspired tessellations.

Bespoke summer cocktails, provided by Fresh Vine Wines, were served before and after the dinner.

Guests were invited to dinner at a long table in a pathway lined with crabapple trees, decked with tea-stained Japanese lanterns.

“Métier’s community has always been so inspiring to me. Individuals that embody the spirit of the brand from the worlds of art, design, entertainment, and fashion and who are each shaping culture on their own terms.” - Melissa Morris

The menu and handwritten place cards were inspired by Henri Matisse’s La Danse. Matisse’s masterpiece was commissioned by and exhibited at the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, where Melissa and the Adlers, our hosts, are from. Every guest received a Personalisation Letter Charm with their initial.

Further bringing the South of France to the Hamptons, yellow napkins and green Roemer glasses added touches of colour to the table, in true Alexander Calder spirit.

Tomato and peach salads were served, along with varieties of summer crudités, as well as focaccia and striped bass, and an effusion of seasonal fruits for dessert.
